To be honest, now as I post this comment. Things ain’t going too good for the Seychelles.
I mean in terms of security ? This is a serious cause for concern. People say we’re safe, but that’s just word of mouth. Around the time the police manage to recover your back pack, I will agree we had a strong police force, but not anymore. Most cases remains pending or unsolvable.

Looks like an absolutely beautiful place. Coco de Mer is great memorable symbol and probably one of the few things I’d heard about the islands.

We’re trying to do something similar to your blog on the other side of the continent in São Tomé e Príncipe – it’s still a lot less developed though. But maybe that’s a good thing.

We went to the Anse Soleil Cafeteria when we were on Mahe five years ago. Had a great lunch and we shall most definitely return when we are there in March. I trawled through my photos to find where exactly it was, it made such an impression.

Last week we were going to the 4 seasons for lunch and our taxi driver told us about his favourite restaurant.
We had the most deliciously fresh unforgettable meal there, in fact better than anything eaten on our cruise since leaving Dubai two weeks before.
Looking forward to my next visit to the Anse Soleil Cafeteria.

My room in Berjaya Vallon was broken into just 2 days back and they took my GPS, Sony Cybershot and all the money (USD 2,500). The cops were pretty disintered on the first day till the CID got involved.

Pretty frustrated about the same.

Looks like the CID may get the stuff back and crack the case.

Hi Eleena,
Quite a list you have there. It all depends on your budget and “attitude towards nature”, some resort are more for at-sea-activities, some in seychelles-idea of being busy street, some on smaller island and not nature. so it really depends.
there’s a whole list of things to do and you should visit Moyenne island, it’s a day trip and just superb.
Currency in seychelles is Rupees, with exchange rate of about 10 for one US.

Lisa; I myself have tried emailing Clef De Iles using the email address on their website to make bookings for our travel in March 2010, however it seems they only respond to Travel agents, so your best bet is to make your booking through a travel agent, There are many (HolidaySeychelles.com, seyexclusive.com etc.)

Hi, family of 3 planning a trip to Seychelles between 23rd to 28 Dec 09. We have no idea where to stay and eat. We are planning to visit Moyenne Island as a day trip and dine at La Scala and La Perie Noire.

Any comment on Beachcomber, Saint Anne and Cert Island Resort? Can u recomment a resort with the best beach to see fishes?
Also any comment on La Perie Noire and Corsaine Restaurant?
What are the must visit places in Seychelles?
What kind of currency do they use in Seychelles?
Are we expected to tip for services and what is the market rate?
What is the best thing to bring for friends who are Seychellois?
I appologise for asking so may questions. I will definitely appreciate if someone can help me.

It’s not hard spending local currency in local places, it’s just the locals prefer FX. Insist politely that you pay in local rupes and you’ll be fine. If you, on the other hand, do the big touristy stuff then you can expect to be taken advantage of with crappy fx rate and inflated prices. It does help having a local with you, or at least looking a little local.

My wife (Stella) and I got married on Takamaka beach on April 1st 2008, Chez Batistas put on a great event for us and the 40 or so people loved it (I hope). We travelled from the UK a couple of weeks earlier and many of friends (Seychellois & Brits) joined us in the run-up the wedding. Seychelles is stunning, we go there every year to visit Stella’s mum/dad (live in St Louis) and we’re going back in a couple of weeks (9th August) and will no doubt pop over to Chez Bats for a good ‘ole Creole buffet!

Great site and love to see that you fell in love with the most beautiful place in earth.
