La Scala restaurant at Mahé, Seychelles
Italian food in Bel Ombre
After our round trip on Mahé we had just one night left before moving on to Praslin. We had heard good stories about La Scala, an italian restaurant in Bel Ombre, just 10 minutes driving from Beau Vallon.
I don’t remember when exactly, but I had made reservations for 2 over the phone. It’s not always necessary to do so, but if you don’t want to take any chances, it won’t hurt reserving a table.
La Scala is almost at the end of the Bel Ombre road. It’s completely covered in bright light during the night, so there’s absolutely no way you can miss it.
The restaurant is run by real Italians and they offer quite a menu with traditional italian dishes. We ordered 4 courses (antipasti, primi, secondi & dolci) and the food that was being served was simply great. Kind of strange to eat ‘real’ italian food in the Seychelles. For a moment I felt like I was in Italy instead of Mahé…
Prices are also (northern) italian as you can see on the receipt. La Scala is well-known among tourists staying in Beau Vallon. Most of them take a taxi to the restaurant. I saw guests from all over the planet: Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, some Arab country, India, so it’s a multicultural mix there.
Conclusion: La Scala offers good italian food. If you want something else than grilled fish or creole food for a change, then this is the place to go to.
