The Boathouse restaurant in Beau Vallon, Mahé islandCreole buffet at the Boathouse restaurant

After the whole backpack incident we did some more snorkeling. Because of the low tide we had to swim a little further and really be careful for all Sea Urchins around. Don’t want to step into one of those…

Later that day, on our 2nd evening in Beau Vallon, Mahé we decided to eat at the Boathouse restaurant, just a few metres from our beach house Clef des Iles in Beau Vallon. I had read some great reviews online so time to see for ourselves.

The Boathouse is all about Creole buffet. You pay a fixed fee (I believe it was €30 pp) and you can eat all you want. There’s a huge salad buffet and various curries. There’s also a cook grilling fresh fish and chicken. Afterwards you can choose from several Creole desserts.

Completely different from La Perle Noire, but change is always nice. It all tasted very good, and for Seychellois standards it’s not expensive. The Boathouse can be busy, so it might be a good idea to reserve some seats. There are no tables outside, but since the restaurant has no windows, it almost feels like you’re outside. The occasional sound of a coconut falling on the roof over your head reminds you that it’s OK to eat inside.

I can recommend the Boathouse when you’re in the Beau Vallon area. It’s simple, but tasteful Creole food for a good price.

Location Boathouse restaurant

It was perfectly located for us, just a few steps from Clef des Iles and the diving school. It’s located directly on the main Beau Vallon road that is running along the coast. You can also decide to walk over the beach, because only the road separates the restaurant from the beach.

Great description of the Boat House. The price is Euro 20. Great value for money, thanks for the tip
